Work Day

Got up early and went over and helped work in Charlee's yard. Then we got the work truck and took her old washer to the dump. It went out on Monday and we went to Overton and bought a used one from Amanda's grandpa Weed. It didn't look like much but Charlee says it washes great so there ya go. Anyway then we came over here and Tony mowed my yard and I trimmed and cleaned up out side.

This afternoon Charlee came over and we made 4 big pans of green chili chicken enchiladas, and two blueberry cakes, and homemade salsa. Then we ran down and picked up the rice and beans I ordered and dropped Tony off at the Mesquite Days carnival. This is the first year I haven't gone to at least some of the activities but I was just too busy getting ready for our little Harlee Hoo's dedication ceremony tomorrow.

Teddi found the dress that she was blessed in and I am washing and mending it for them to use for Harlee. So sweet

Quick Trip

Well they are back in Williston, ND. They only got to stay one night and then they loaded them up and hauled them back . I guess they got things repaired and restored. Cliff was pissed, he had looked forward to that comfortable bed in the hotel. At the man camp he says they are kinds like army cots and are far from comfortable. Poor baby, what he does for his family. The good news is they will be going back to work and that will help the time pass. He almost went crazy sitting in that man camp with no heat or power for 3 days. He said they were going stir crazy. So I guess the high drama is over and it's back to work. Makes me nervous for next winter. They better get better prepared before someone gets hurt.

Finally Saved

They bussed the guys out today to Miles City Montana, a three hour drive. That was the closest place they could find rooms. Cliff was so happy to get a warm place to sleep, a hot meal, and most of all , a shower. He said he took a long hot shower, changed clothes and went and found a steak house and ordered a bone in rib eye, calamari, and a beer. He sure deserved it after what they went thru. They are suppose to stay in Miles City until they get the man camp up and running. They think it will be 2 or 3 days. At least they are warm and safe and fed.

Some of the guys flew home for the rest of the rotation, but Cliff had another week or so so his crew stayed. Bet the other guys were glad to get home. Anyway I sure said a prayer of thanks that he was safe and warm. This place is no joke in the winter and I guess winter lasts all year. It's like ice road truckers.

Vegas Bound

Took my little Gordy and went to Vegas to go with Teddi to check out La Cordon Blue cooking school. She is thinking about going to school to be a chef. She hates working in corrections so bad and wants out. I think it would be a good career but worry about the long hours late at night. These things are so hard when you have little ones. Anyway, I wrangled the kids while she talked to the school registrar. She got a lot of good information and put in an application. Now she had to fill out the financial aid packet and see if she can get any grants. The tuition is $19,000.00 for 9 months. Too much for me to think about, this stuff is for the young it makes me tired just thinking about ii HA. She is strong and I am sure she'll make the right decision.
Afterward we went and got frozen yogurt and toasted the day with our spoons. Later Oli let Gabbi hold her turtle and that was a big hit. They are so cute together. We had a good day and Gordy slept all the way to Vegas and all the way home. What a lucky Mima to have such good grandchildren!!

Conditions Worse

Well it is now Sunday and they still have no, heat, no water, no power. They have been eating cold food for 3 days and Cliff said that is going bad. They did get out today and found a little Chinese place that was serving appetizers and had their first hot meal. Then they went toWalmart which had opened for 3 hours to let people get necessities. Crazy stuff. Cliff says it's quite a lesson in what happens when technology goes down. This was his first rotation up there that he didn't take a couple hundred dollars in cash with him and boy did he regret it. When a few places did open without power they couldn't take credit/debit cards so it was cash only. Cliff had just run out of cash when Walmart let him get $40 cash back and saved him. He sat in a truck one day and charged his phone and then had a half battery on his lap top and used that to charge it the next day. It is a mess. Cliff said that they are gonna have to do something soon cause the sanitary conditions are horrible with no water. I don't know what they are gonna do cause the airport is closed but they better do something soon or Cliff said there is gonna be a riot. It is frightening with him up there and if communication was cut off I'd have no way to contact him. I told him I would start from here and come get him but he told me to keep my butt at home and he'd get to me so I have learned to mind so I did, but I wanted to go find him. I am worried.
