I am so happy today. It is a beautiful day with lots of sun; suppose to be 71 degrees. YEAH!! I would love to spend the day working in my yard and planting flowers but alas I have to work. I guess I should have planned better in my youth!!HA
We are gearing up for the race this weekend. I had my nails done last night and as a long standing tradition for the Vegas race, I got my nails painted in Gordon's new paint scheme colors- red-black- gold. They look cool, with flames from the bottom up. My nail girl, Kimmy just cracks up. She thinks I am so retarded!! She is a darling little Vietnamese girl with a real heavy accent. She says" You so crazy for NASCAR-so a big fan-Gordon this and Gordon that-even nails like Gordon-Gordon would faint if he see your nails-probably win race." She is so cute. She is starting to understand a little. Her boyfriend is a big race fan (Gordon also) and she has started watching the races a little. She said, " mostly boring but sometime Jeff go up and then back and then up and I get excited in my stomach." I said "see you are catching the bug, better be careful or you'll be painting your nails in DuPont colors." HA

And..............It's Raining
Well, we woke up this morning to rain....again. The desert has gotten so much rain this year I hope we have wild flowers. It is cold and nasty today, good day for a book and a cup of coffee. Unfortunately, I have to work.
We went to the race in Fontana over the weekend and it was a blast. Drove down on Saturday and spent the night and then got up and went to the race Sunday morning. It was a nice day-overcast and not to cool-just right. We just hung out at the track and looked at all the crazies and listened to the music. They had 3 live bands, all regional, except for Gavin Rossdale from Bush. They played last. It was a nice day. We ate a big fat King Taco burrito at the track. They are so good. Carne Asada in homemade flour tortillas with pinto beans and cilantro and onions. They have the best salsa soooooo hot. It is worth the trip just for the burritos.
For the first time EVER we didn't buy any Gordon stuff. We did buy two blow up cushions for our fat butts to sit on (and they were amazing). It finally turned off a little cold just after the race started at 3:00 pm. They only ran 6 laps when they called a caution for rain. We about had a fit. The last time we were in CA for the race we sat in the pouring rain for two hours freezing to death until they called rain delay and ran the race the next morning. But even though there were several other cautions for rain, they finally got the race finished and it was a great race. Exciting down to the end. MAatt Kennseth won and Jeff took 2nd. Every time Jeff would get the lead he would pit and his pit crew would jack him in the pits and he would lose 1 or 2 spots. It was so frustrating!!! It is crazy. My whole neck and back is sore today for being tense. I even have to remind myself to breath I get so wound up in it. I LOVE IT.
We drove home after the race and it wasn't too bad. We got home about 12:30 am and we were just starting to get real tired. That bed felt good and 6:00 am came too early. Now next week is the Vegas race. Can't wait. GO GORDON!

My Baby Girl
Cliff and I went to Vegas last night to see Teddi and Martin. They have a nice big apartment right off the 95 and Craig. Really spacious for an apartment and cheap. Vegas is a mess right now so rent is really a bargain. We ate at El Burrito and then went to a little neighborhood bar close to them and shot pool. Cliff and I got our butts kicked but Cliff redeemed us by whipping Marti Marti on Big Buck Shoot.
We really had fun. We don't get a chance to just hang out with them much so it was nice. Clifford made me drive down and home because, according to him, "this was your idea". So I have been teasing him ever since about all the things that are "his idea". He wants to go to the NASCAR race in CA on Sunday so I guess that means he is going to drive down and back since "this is his idea!"
I think we are going to just stay home tonight and watch pre-race stuff, maybe burn a steak.

One Last Gasp
You won't believe it. Cliff and I went outside last night to go to dinner and it was raining. Can you believe it. We went to have Chinese and I drank lots of nice hot green tea. It was so pleasant on a cold night. We ate soooooo much and still had left overs, so we had that for lunch today. Anyway, today it is pretty again and sunny yet still a little cool. I have to remember it will be hot as hell soon and I will be wishing for a little cool weather.
I have been sitting at my computer all day today (at work) and my back is killing me. I had to catch some stuff up and now I won't have 10 minutes worth of work tomorrow. Boring. I might watch the movie Birdcage if everyone leaves me alone. I love that movie it is so over the top. But then I have an affinity for drag queens so go figure (I know you know what I mean Claiborne)
Cliff fixed my car today. The front left caliper was leaking brake fluid so he changed it. That poor old car. It just keeps going and going. I am of an age that I don't care what I drive as along as it is reliable and paid for. Heavy on the paid for. Anyway the old 1999 Durango has 245,000 miles on it and the motor runs like a champ. She does have some minor problems but they tell me $400.00 will fix that so it's well worth the investment. I will be really sad when I finally have to give her up. She has been a fabulous ride. We went many miles racing bikes and running the countryside having fun in that car. So we will ask blessings for her that she runs a little longer and we will enjoy her while we can. Thanks old trusty friend for all your miles of service!!

Here Comes the Sun
Finally a real Nevada day!! I woke up this morning to beautiful sunshine!! I am so excited. It was warm and nice so I put my plants all outside to enjoy the sunshine.
My sweet Big Daddy was sleeping like a baby when I left. He stayed up later than I did last night. He had worked patching a hole in the sheet rock that we had made when we put the big logs in our living room. He got it all patched and painted and it sure looks nice. Now that there is one versatile cowboy!!HA. He is also working on a piece to hang from the main horizontal log. He is carving it into a flat piece he cut off a log. He is chiseling our brand into the piece of wood. He created and designed the brand and it is spectacular. It is a C flying D that is very stylized and looks kind of like a tattoo or biker symbol. I love it. I wish I had his or Claiborne's artistic talent.
So it is a beautiful day and I am happy!
