I am amazed at this weather. Here it is the first of April and it's still cold. Made it nice working in the yard this weekend. I even needed a light jacket. I pulled weeds all along our fence and mowed and trimmed the yard on Sunday morning. It took me 4 hours and about killed my knees but it is beautiful. Cliff had put weed and feed on the yard earlier in the week and got all the sprinklers fixed. Seems like we have to redo half of them every year. I added some plants to my collection on the carport. It looks so nice except for that $@#^%$# race car. I just keep begging him to move it. I know he has good intentions but it still hasn't gotten moved Sigh!! Look sad!!
We have been so busy getting ready for the wedding. Only three weeks away. It's coming fast. It is going to be nice and more importantly fun. We all went to Vegas on Saturday. We had the guys measured for their tux's and then had lunch at In-N-Out (love those burgers.) Then all the guys went to the Monster Truck World finals and Cha and I went shopping. Poor Teddi had to work so she missed the fun. It was a fun day. We had Gouda with us and see was so cute shopping. She was a little trooper and did really well. Boy are all the kids growing.
Wednesday is Tony's 12th birthday. I can't believe it! He is starting to get facial hair and we tease him about his mustache. He is taller than I am and such a tease. He reminds me of Teddi and Olivia, the three of them are just big tease monkey's.

Cold & Windy
Today turned off cold again with just a few sprinkles of rain. I would have never known but Charlee's friend, Darci's car broke down out on the freeway and I went and picked her up and brought her back to Mesquite. While I was gone a few drops hit the windshield.
It has been a rather quite day but that will all change soon. Ted & Marty are coming out with Olivia to see Mom and Dad. We are all going to dinner at Los Lupes tonight and we are also going to try on the dresses and sashes for the wedding. Hope everything works out.
Saturday we are going to Vegas for the start of the Mint 500 race. We have to be there by 6:00am so we may go Friday night and just stay with Teddi. The Saturday night all the guys are going to the Monster Truck finals while Cha and I go shopping or something. Poor Ted has to work Sat night but will be able to go to the race with us Sat morning. Should be a fun weekend, I'm ready.

Mom & Dad
Mom and Dad got here last night for a visit. They came down to get their taxes done and visit us for a few days. They got to see Gabbi last night for a minute but have not seen Tony yet. I made a pot of beans and ham hocks with corn bread last night and we sat around and talked. I think we will invite Cha , Leo and the kids tonight for dinner, don't know what I'll fix, maybe a roast and mashed potatoes. Cliff and Leo went fishing out to the lake today with some guys, so they will be starved when they get home I'm sure.
I ordered a dress for the wedding today, it's a real cute off the shoulder black lace full length dress. Hope I like it. I ordered a pants suit but sent it back. Sometimes it's hard to see how things really look. This will either be cute or make me look like a fat hog, hummmmmmmmmm which will it be? There are so many little details to take care of, fun though. The nice thing is Martin & Teddi are easy going and roll with it so it will be fun. Cliff ordered a new set of speakers for our PA system so we can have the sound right for the music. I want to get the sashes for the bridesmaids dresses, the sashes for the flower girl dresses along with their ruffle socks (I want to put little blue bows with rosettes and bells on their little socks so they tingle as they throw rose petals in front of Ted) done this week, oh yes I have to get the baskets done too. I think we are going to tailor Teddi's dress this week while she is here also. Whew, I'm tired already

I'm Back
It seems like a year since I blogged but here I am. We have been so darn busy lately. The kids were here for a week and we had lots of fun. The Friday night before they left , we all went to Las Vegas and walked around down on Fremont Street. That is always fun. A great place to take the kids because it's free and exciting for them. It's about the only way they can experience Vegas until they are 21. There were jugglers, and musicians, show girls, freaks, and just the normal Vegas crowd (don't forget Elvis and Marilyn look alike). They had a great saxophone player we stood and listened to for awhile and then walked on down and listened to a couple bands they had playing, then watched the Fremont Street Experience show. Fun. Then Cliff, Cody, Teddi , and Marty went to see let's just say "an adult show" for about an hour and I took the girls shopping and to get a piece of pie. We all finally met back up about 10:30 and we came home.
Saturday Teddi, Olivia, and Martin came out and we took the girls and Gabbi and Tony and went out to Whitney Pockets and cooked dutch oven chicken, ham, and potatoes. Cliff and I made a peach cobbler in the dutch oven that was to die for. We took the kids hiking on the rocks and to see all the stuff the CCC workers had built in the 1930's during the Depression. We told them take a good look we may be doing this again!!! HA. It was a lot of fun. We were sorry that Cody missed it but he was still in Vegas with his friends(just like any 19 year old kid should be GOOOOOOOOOOO Cody). It was a good day and by the time we got home we were all tired out. Cody came the next day and got the girls and headed to Grand Junction. We hated to see them all go but life moves on.
This past week has been busy, trying to get the house back in order, the lawns ready for summer, laundry done, work, etc. We were wore out by Friday but Cliff said we were going to go have some fun so we went to Vegas and stayed the night with Teddi & Martin. Olivia was with Dean so we all went the the new Stoney's North Forty dance hall. What a place. It was pretty wild. They had the girls dancing on the bar like Coyote Ugly and the whole bit. It was a partying place but a little too Rock-in-Roll for us. I mean we love rock and roll but this is suppose to be a country bar. It was great for Teddi & Marty most of the people there were in their 20's but too much line dancing for us. Plus it was so packed you couldn't even dance. Especially since there was a bunch of hip hop guys that thought it was a mosh pit. Nuts. We did have fun watching all the freaks and weirdo's. We went to breakfast after and then got some shut eye. Cliff and I got up about 8:30 and Teddi and I went and got some coffee for Cliff. When we got back Cliff and Martin were playing video golf. It was pretty funny. Cliff's player was a white trash biker chick that would beat her club on the ground till she bent it when she missed a hole, it was hilarious. We got home about 1:00 and I had to hurry and get ready cause I had to sing at a birthday party at the Casablanca. When I got back we had dinner reservations at Gregory's (which was great other than they took two of our favorite things off the menu) and then we played the slots for a few minutes and went home.
Sunday we had the Mexicans over for hot wings and sliders and watched the race. It was short track at Bristol and not too exciting. Kyle Busch won, Cha is kicking all our butts lately (even though Jeff is still first in points) We lost all our bets, poo poo!!
Mom and Dad will be here today, Not sure for how long. But it will be nice to see them. I am now full tilt in getting ready for the wedding. April 18th will be here before I am ready I'm sure.

Freaky Friday the 13th
Well we have had a really busy week. The kids are here and so it's been wild, noisy, and great. We haven't really done too much as Cliff and I had to work all week, but the kids have gone swimming, bowling, to the movies, and took a drive out to Ryolite, NV to the ghost town. It has been fun.
Tonight we are going to Las Vegas and take Dakota on the town. He hasn't been to Las Vegas since he was about 7 so it should be fun. I think Teddi and Martin are going to meet us there and just cruise around with us. I tried to talk the kids into giving Dakota the wiener experience at the "Slots-O-Fun" but they all hollered "yuck". So I guess dinner will be Buffalo Wild Wings as that is about every one's favorite in Las Vegas.
I am glad this week is over at work, it has been stress to the maximum!!!!!!This economy is crazy and just killing the construction industry as well as about everything else. I am too old to fight these financial battles anymore. It taxes my little pee brain to try to keep this place solvent. Especially since we operated on the edge anyway. Oh well I guess you just ride the horse till it falls and refuses to get back up. I just hope I'm not the one that they expect to shoot it and put it out of it's misery! (HA)

Atlanta Race Weekend

Pretty Day
I got up this morning and washed all my windows. It is nice to have them sparkly and clean. Tony came over last night and helped his poor old Mima mow the yard. He mowed and I trimmed and pulled weeds. It sure looks nice now. I wanted to get it done before the kids got here this weekend so I could spend more time with them.
Now my dream is that Big Daddy will move his race car off Big Mama's carport so she can make a beautiful patio out of it complete with a fountain and new patio furniture. I have it all designed in my mind but my design does not include that car. I threatened to have a tow truck come and tow it around to the back of the property and he just smiled. He thinks I am all talk and no action (is he right? stay tuned and see what evil lurks in the hearts of old women). I am confident that someday he will move it. I just hope I live long enough to see that day (HA)
Anyway, it is a pretty day and everyone is fat and happy, so I count myself lucky!!

Stormy Weather
March is here with a vengence. The wind has been blowing for the last two days, bad. It looks like it wll last thru the weekend. It has been in the low 70's for the last couple weeks but now (since the kids are coming for spring break) the temperature is dropping about 10 degrees. Oh well we will still have fun. I can't wait to see them, it seems ages since they were here for Christmas. I need my hugs from my big girls. Alecia thinks I looked funny when I was a "big time hippy in the olden days" I think I will dig out some old photos and she can really have a laugh!

Big Time Hippies From the Olden Days
I found this photo of my girl friends (from left to right), Teri Calhoun Phillips , Shirley Freeman Martindale and me. This was taken in about 1972 in Mountain Home, ID. We had gone to someones wedding I think? Tony asked me if I was a big time Hippy from the olden days and this was my example!! It is lovely that I am still in touch with these girls after 37 years. We went to the NASCAR race in Vegas over the weekend. It was a ball. Got a couple of new Sin City Racing tank tops. They just don't have any Jeff Gordon women's gear that is cute. He needs to hire me to do his marketing and he could make come money (LIKE HE NEEDS IT HA) Anyway, the race was exciting and Kyle Busch the hometown boy won (which was nice) Gordon did fine and placed 5th. That makes him #1 in points so GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Jeff. It was a fun day, the Mexican went with us. We drank a couple beers, ate a crappy burrito (nothing like King Taco Burritos in CA) soaked in the redneck ambiance and got a sunburn. Classic NASCAR. The kids will be here next weekend and we are going to have a NASCAR party on Sunday for the Atlanta race. I am going to get some poster board and we can each make our own driver signs and hang our flags, it will be so gay!!! Can't wait. I will also replicate King Taco Carne Asada burritos that will be yummy fabulous and hopefully Big Daddy's driver will win so his competitive nature will be stilled. We will all talk trash about everyone else's drivers, I may have to make a Mikey Waltrip sign just to support the aged and winless. I can't help loving Mikey because he is so funny. We love Mikey's sense of humor and Kyle because he is a BEE. Jeff for his skill and class, and Mark Martin cause he's almost as old as me!!!!
PS. Charlee Ann made me edit this to say that her driver, Kyle Busch, kicked all our butts at the Vegas race and that she is the big wiener!! So we can all go suck it!
