The Aftermath

Well we had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. Friday we went out to dinner with Cliff's cousins and had the seafood buffet at the Eureka. It was really good and then we stayed for awhile and played the penny slots. Didn't win anything but we did get to play for awhile so it was fun. Afterwards we went and picked up Gabby from the sitter and then Tony and Gabby spent the rest of the weekend with us. We had so much fun with them. They are such good kids. Charlee has done a good job with them. They are such sweethearts.
Cliff got his new games, Black Ops and Assassins Creed so it was a gaming weekend. I let them go crazy and I read a historical biography written about Richard Nixon. Tony thought it was funny that I was reading a book about Nixon and he was on the game they were playing. Charlee came and got them last night and Gabby was ready; she had been wanting her Mama all day. I let her talk to Cha on the phone as Cha was driving home. Charlee's picture shows up on the phone when she is on there so Gabby would hold the phone out so she could see her Mama, it was so cute. I txt Cha later to see if they had gotten all tucked in and she said that first Gabby had to have a ace bandage on her leg. I asked her if it was broken or a shark bite. Cha said she thought it must be a shark bite and we marveled that a shark would be this far inland at this time of year LOL. She is a drama queen like her Mama Lord help us !! HA
So today we are going to go to Walmart and get a web camera. That way we can see Big Daddy when he is gone. I hate it that he has to leave tomorrow and I won't get to go till next week. Doctors appointments continue but I am not complaining. I feel so lucky to have such a wonderful team of doctors to help me through this. ALWAYS COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS.

Thanksgiving 2010

Thanksgiving was a screaming success. Had so much to eat that it was stupid, but it was all so good. Cliff's cousins from Grand Junction, David & Val with their son Sheldon, and Greg & Rhonda came for dinner as well as Charlee, Toby, Gabby, Darci, ALonzo, and Ali. Wish Teddi and her gang, and Toby could have been here but sometimes that's the breaks. I did get to talk to them both so that was good. We had a good time and ate too much then the guys played video games while the girls watched. Later after I had gone to bed, Cliff met David & Greg at the casino and spent some more guy time. I was so happy to be in bed, my feet hurt and I had had it. I took one of my heavy duty pain pills (trust me I had earned it) and went mercifully to sleep. I feel much better this morning and all is right with the world.

I am going to run Charlee to St George to pick up a rental car in a few minutes. She and Darci are taking a short trip to California and I am keeping the kids. I can't believe how much easier Gabby is to watch anymore. She is so good and plays by herself and just is such a good girl. She is helping me do Grandpa's laundry and being such a sweetheart. She blew on the dry laundry soap and got it in her eyes and me had mad drama, but it didn't last long. Once it stopped burning she went into her bedroom an lay on the bed and watched Shrek and now is back to running wild. Now Tony has given her a controller and she thinks she is playing a video game with him. HA

Championship Sunday

Just sitting here watching the last NASCAR race of the season. 42 laps to go and it looks like Johnson will win again. Jeff is out with a blown motor so to say the day is not turning out as we would like is an understatement. Ah so! It has been a cold windy day. It was raining when I woke up at 4:30 this morning but by the time I actually got up at 6:00 it had turned into a drizzle. Since then it has stopped and the wind is just whipping everything around outside and it is cold.

Talked to Toby this morning and tried to figure out when we will both be here for him to come down before Christmas. I want to see him so hopefully we can work it out. I thought we would be home by the 15th of December but now the family has planned a 50th anniversary party in Grand Junction for Cliff's Mom and Dad so it looks like we will need to be there until the 18th. Cliff is having a hissy cause it cuts in to the time he gets to spend at home but we have to do what we have to do.

Cha and Company came by and were on their way to St George to do some shopping. They asked me to go but I have just done too much the last few days with decorating the house for Christmas, my birthday, trips to St George, so I optioned to stay home. Plus I wanted to watch the end of the race. I did get a picture of Gabrielle in front of the Christmas tree. She was with her Daddy and didn't get to come to Mimi's bday party so I had to get my birthday kiss today. She is getting so big and is so sweet. How did I get so lucky to have such smart, beautiful, but most importantly===nice grandchildren. Teddi was having contractions last night and I think Harlee wanted to join the party but she said they have stopped today. Darn Braxton Hicks contractions, I did tell her she is just doing advance work so maybe there will be less to do later. HA

Happy Birthday To Me

Olivia and her Mimi. She was singing Happy Birthday and helped me blow out the candles. Didn't get to have our Princess Gabrielle but saved her some cake for tomorrow.
Tony and Olivia with Darci's kids Ali and Alonzo. They all helped decorate the tree after Donnie, Teddi, Charlee and I put it up. I'd have never made it without them.

Well I have now made it to 58. I can hardly believe it. I feel like I am about 30 (except for the aching knees) still raring to go. When I woke up , my sweet Cliff had sent me a txt message telling me happy birthday. He is stuck in North Dakota in the freezing cold. It always amazes me to look thru history and see what men have sacrificed on behalf of their families. I appreciate, respect and love him so much. He and my kids and grandchildren are more gift than any woman deserves, so that is my gift; all the love from my and Cliff's families. WOO HOO!! I am loved.
All the Nevada kids are coming tonight for my bday. I made a hugh Lasagna Florentine and my favorite cake, my version of Tres Leches limon'. Yum. Can't wait

I have been busy getting the house decorated for Christmas. I usually don't do it this early but we will be in Grand Junction part of the time so I wanted to enjoy it all I can. The kids are gonna help me put up the tree tonight. It will be nice to have the help. I asked Cliff if he would mind not being here and he said it would be OK he would not get his feelings hurt. That way it should be very festive when everyone comes for Thanksgiving. I have most of my shopping done for dinner but none of my Christmas shopping done. I am usually done wrapped and mailed by Thanksgiving........what's up this year. It's mainly I have no clue what to get anyone. I hate the gift card thing but that may be what the big kids end up with. I can't imagine what anyone would want so....................The little kids are pretty easy and fun so that will be my shopping focus. Thank heavens Cliff and I don't do the gift thing or I would go mad!!HA Besides Santa will want what he wants every year, a sexy nightie!!!

Had to post this collage that Toby made he posted it to Reddit and it was #1 on the front page for quite sometime. He needs to be a political satirist.

Another Treatment Tuesday

Took this picture of our Colorado Kids at Les & Linda's wedding (Cliff's brother) I thought it was a cute picture of some great kids!!!

I have been home since Sunday and have been working around the house to get everything ship shape for the holidays. I cleaned the house and rearranged some furniture, patched and painted the ceiling and a couple walls, started washing all the windows but I'm not quite done with that yet. There was some over spray on them from when we painted the outside of the house two weeks ago and I have most of it off but still working on a few. I have decided to put my Christmas tree up before Thanksgiving this year. I usually don't but the little kids are so excited this year plus I think it will be festive for Thanksgiving. Some of Cliff's family is coming and so I'd like it to be fun.

I have treatment today so I am going to St George this morning. After treatment I have to go pick up two new games that Cliff bought and go see if I can find a chandelier for the dining room. Since we put Mom's table in there the ceiling fan just doesn't work, so off to Lowe's I go. That's going to be my birthday present plus I may have to make a pass through Ross or TJ MAX you know how that goes girls. I need a new pair of jeans but i just hate trying them on so I have been putting it off but today may be the day.

Cliff is still in North Dakota working. Today he will have been there a week and it seems like a month. It just drags by for us both. The high here was 75 yesterday and 22 there. Now that is just not fair in any way plus he had to work about 16 hours out in that. I know most people blame Obama for the mess the country is in and I think that is about as stupid as the fact that I blame that son of a bitch George Bush. Oh well, just a momentary out burst that I really really really really really really mean!

Potty Problems

Just got back from Colorado this afternoon and I had mold in my bathroom toilet!! In the 40 years I have been keeping house, I have never had a dirty toilet!! It freaked me out!! So I sat down and ate a piece of pumpkin pie and drank a cup of apple cinnamon tea and I still haven't cleaned it. I may be making progress.

Sunday and They are Racing in Texas

Cliff and I at Texas Motor Speedway at the 2009 fall race

Just sitting around waiting for the race in Texas to start. Can't believe we were there last year and all my hair was falling out. In fact the day of the race was the first day I wore a wig. Unreal how the time has flown past. Daddy is nodding on the couch watching the pre-race coverage. I just took come cinnamon rolls out of the oven so we would have something to munch on this afternoon while we watch the race. Had Cha and the kids over for biscuits and gravy this morning and our Gorda was home so we got kisses, Eskimo kisses, and butterfly kisses. Now that's living folks.

This week off has gone by so fast. Just not long enough but I am so grateful we get to come home every two weeks and see everyone and take care of the place. We have to figure out what to do with Digger this winter. It's just too cold for him to stay out all winter, he is like me, getting old and his joints ache in the cold, we may have to put a doggie door in and then pen him into the back hallway. I can't stand to think of him hurting with the cold at night so we will figure out something.

We are going over to Cha's for dinner. She is fixing a roast and mashed potatoes for dinner, sounds so good. Teddi and Donnie are in California at her California baby shower but will be home tonight. I was hoping Toby could come for Thanksgiving but it looks like he can't come till about Dec 13. It will be good to see him whenever he comes. Well the race is starting so I will sign off for today.

Beautiful Saturday Morning

Woke up early this morning and picked up the house. I was tired last night so I kind of left a little mess in the kitchen (not like me). Then I went outside and sat in the morning light and had a cup of coffee. It was cool but not uncomfortable and I enjoyed it a bunch. I will try to hold the memory when we get back over to Colorado next week and it is raining and I am freezing my butt off. I will be thankful though cause my brave Clifford will be in North Dakota really freezing his butt off.

Cliff went over to help Leonard with a plumbing question last night and got to see our Gorda. She kept saying "Hold me Grandpa'. He said he could hardly get anything done from holding his baby. I sure was jealous that he got to see her first. She will be home from her Dad's house Sunday morning and then I will get my kisses. Did get to see Tony for a few minutes as he ate dinner with us on Thursday night but I think he is at his Dad's now. Teddi, Donnie, and Oli are in California this weekend at her CA baby shower. I am glad this is their last trip until the baby comes. I worry that it is too tiring for her. She is really getting big and it's getting too hard for her to drag everything for Oi and then ride all the way to CA.

I think we are going to paint the house today. We have tested several colors on the side of the house and Cliff didn't like any of them, I really wanted to change the color but since we can't decide anything I think we will just re-paint the same color. It will take less paint and be easier so that's OK/ Just want to get it done. We also need to go to the dump with a load, but we will see if that gets done or not.

We are trying to get everything done before Thanksgiving as we have company coming from Co. The holidays are nice cause we tend to get things done we have put off. HA. I was hoping that Toby would come but I don't think he is going to make it. He said he will probably be down the first part of December so at least we will get to see him.

Mid Term Elections

Yeah, today all the political ads will be over. I wonder if everyone is as tired of them as I am. It's all such a joke and I would laugh if it didn't make me want to cry. The saddest part is how many people just believe what they hear or are programed to believe without ever reading or studying history to try to discern what the truth is. So here's to nothing changing except more lies and treachery.

Poor Cliff has been working 18 hrs a day the last few days an is so burnt out. I told him when he left this morning, if he doesn't recognize me when he comes in I won't feel bad if he asks my name. We are thankful to have a job that pays the bills but it sucks it has to be like this. We are in Colorado from Nevada and there are people here from all over the USA. Hopefully they won't legislate the gas and oil industry out of existence or I have no idea where we will have to go. Out of the country I guess. There are a lot of our acquaintances that have gone overseas cause they can't find work in the USA, hat a sad commentary.

I heard on the Grand Junction local news this morning that they has a DUI check point set up last night here in GJ and they had to shut it down after 1 hour because they had arrested so many people they couldn't handle the volume. Between the drunks and the crack heads this is a seamy place. Really different than any other place I have ever lived. It reminds me a little of Idaho, there is the same disconnect from reality that I sense there. I wonder if geographic areas can be less mature than others. That's the way it seems to me. It seems the more conservative or liberal an area is the less actual awareness exists for truth.

It has been very cold here in the morning (to me) but I can imagine how much worse it is gonna be. It gets real warm during the day to the point that I have to open the doors and windows or turn on the A/C. The trees have all turned and are now starting to lose their leaves. It's been awhile since I have actually experienced fall and it's very enjoyable. I would have loved to take a ride in the hills to see all the colors but with Cliff's hours it is impossible. They have something in Oct they call "Color Sunday" and that's kind of the day everyone makes their pilgrimage to the hills; kind of a cool family outing.

We leave Wednesday night to go to Mesquite and I am looking forward to it. Cliff an I both were sick to miss Halloween at home. Cliff must have said 10 times how much it "sucked" to miss dressing up and seeing the grand babies in their finery. Bet he takes it off next year!!!
