Had a big day (for me). Got up and got dressed and went to early lunch with Charlee Ann, then Kathryn called me and wanted me to go to the Fairchild Memorial so I could tell her what the scoop was , so I went. It was an odd little affair. They held it in the cultural hall at the LDS State Center and I imagine there was about 400 people there. Theron Jensen (LDS Church) spoke as did Dennis Lee ( pastor of the Living Waters Fellowship). It was a strange juxtaposition from a Mormon State President trying to preach a non-Mormon sermon (he did a pretty good job of not crossing the line but came across as being very phony) to a Four Square Fire and Brimstone Preacher pulling out all the stops and becoming almost a caricature of himself. The theme was not really even honoring these two people, one who had murdered the other and then committed suicide, but rather admonishing the community to stop bickering and be nice to each other.
I thought that was quite a laugh. One side is blaming the mayor for being mean by pursuing Donna Fairchild for submitting false travel vouchers, the other side says that everyone should be nice and talk sweet no matter what fresh hell is perpetrated on the members of the community. It's quite a mess with so many members of the Mormon hierarchy involved in all manner of dishonesty, being fired, indited by Grand Juries, investigated for Misuse of Public funds, fired for on the job drunkenness and sexual escapades with staff, etc that the poor Mormons are getting the worst end of the deal but then I guess they should have chosen better bed fellows. The old saying "lay down with dogs, come up with fleas" applies. I ended up sitting next to the Chief of Police (who is from Meridian and I knew him as a kid and went to school with his family). To say that I think he is one of the most misguided men I have ever met would be an understatement. I don't want to use the word evil but it does come to mind. Anyway my skin was crawling from all the fuckery going on in that place by the time I got out of there. To top it off Channel 3 News out of Vegas was there filming the event and I was worried I might be caught on film fraternizing with the riffraff. HA
After the memorial service I ran down to Moapa and picked up Charlee's friend Amanda and her little black Chihuahua dog named Shiquesha. That damn dog farted the nastiest dog farts all the way back to Mesquite. We had to roll the window down and stick it's butt out the window all the way home. I told Shiquesha even as bad as she smelled it wasn't as bad as the stench of self righteousness that had permeated the event I had just left.
After that I came home and changed clothes and went and picked up Bonnie and we went to dinner at Los Lupes. While there the mayor came flying in parked in two spaces (one a handicapped and rushed into the restaurant. Bonnie and I were just parking so when we got in the restaurant we saw her at a table talking very animated with some people. She looked a mess, sweater off her shoulder showing a bra strap, hair slightly disheveled. I think her day started bad and ended up worse. Anyway, Bonnie and I had a nice dinner and then went to see a play at the community theatre called "Three Angels" . The only thing worse than the writing was the acting, costumes, and set. I mean it was worse than the worse high school play I have ever seen. Charlee asked me how the play was and I said, "Well, it ain't like Eddie fixed it" Amen
Anyway we had a good time laughing at the days events. After dropping Bonnie off I came home, txt Cliff a bit and then hit the sack. Interesting Day.
