We are in San Antonio tonight and having a wonderful time. We took our time and meandered thru New Mexico, stopped in Lincoln County and saw all the Billy the Kid stuff then overland and stayed the night in Roswell. We did not get abducted by aliens but Cliff told Traci that we did get anal probed!!Eek. Had a fabulous steak dinner at the Cattlemen's Steak House and then to bed. I slept really good for a change. I think this trip is helping me sleep.
We got up this morning and drove to San Antonio, did the River Walk and loved every minute of it. We both are hard to impress but we really loved it. Funny thing:
We stopped for gas at a little Mom and Pop gas station about 60 miles out of San Antonio and the old guy running the station asked us where we were going (after he let us use the bathroom but only because we bought gas or as all the signs informed us we would be denied) and we told him San Antonio. He said" Man you have to eat at the La Margarita at Market Square. They have the best Mexican food and margarita's any where. You might think there is better food, but there is NOT.! So after getting lost in downtown San Antonio we end up at a La Quinta Inn (we love to stay at this chain)and low and behold directly across the street is Market Square and the La Margarita. So as fate was in control we did indeed have an early dinner at the La Margarita (which the old dude was kind enough to explain means THE Margarita in Spanish... I mean who knew). So the food was the nastiest Sonora style Mexican food on the planet that tasted like a Banquet frozen Mexican dinner and the margarita's were $10 a piece and so watered down that I, who have not had a drink since I started chemo did not even get a buzz. How funny is that. But it had great atmosphere and the waitress took our picture and it reminded us of Mexico and so far they haven't stolen our car although the security guard at the motel just came by and told Cliff we better get all our Satellite radio and radar detector off the dash or they might break our windows and steal it. Nice, that should help us sleep.
After we did the River Walk we hit a cool little bar called the Mariachi and watched the world series (yeah Yankees, I know they won this one for Dad he is such a Yankee's fan) So we are going to see the Alamo in the morning and then heading toward Dallas. That's if we still have a car in the morning. Yikes
